A first-person witness to the cultural and aesthetic changes that occurred at the turn of the century, Einstein weaves through his publications on black art (Negerplastik, 1915) his denunciation of traditional aesthetics against his commitment to an artistic revolution, starting with of a new intellectual position based on his unprejudiced view of primitive art.
