Abstract Expressionism

Art can only be learned by observing as much as possible, learning the good, the bad and the so-so” by the Director of the Metropolitan Museum and “Learning by doing” by Fran Lloyd Wright; These are the philosophies that can help us understand the path that María Ángeles Planes Ulibarri took from the theory of art to her practice.

From a very early age he has visited the best museums on different continents, from the Guggenheim in New York to the Pompideau Center in France, among many others. This experience, together with his studies in Art History and the Practice, Conservation and Illumination of pieces of Art in museums, has allowed him to have a direct and affective contact with art, and from there he develops his sensitivity for different pictorial styles.

Influenced by the second avant-garde of the 20th century, as well as by the various styles within abstract expressionism, in some of her paintings we can see a glimpse of Informal Art. As a result, María Ángeles creates paintings full of energy, with a great mastery of color in which we can also appreciate an intellectual component.
